Christmas feels like such a long time ago and we are still only in January, but we are looking ahead to our February half term breaks eagerly.

When it comes to finding half term breaks, we are not going to lie but whilst there are some pretty stellar ski options around and who can resist gliding down the powder-soft slopes in some pretty alpine town, we can’t help but hanker after some winter sun.

If you are in some serious need of a family-friendly break, then do we have some great options for you! From traversing around Tenerife to meandering in Malta, we’ve got your half term breaks all sewn up!

Tenerife

Naturally you can’t go wrong with one of the Canary Islands when it comes to half term breaks, the big question is which one is most suitable for half term breaks.

We can’t help but be drawn to Tenerife, it’s the latest and indeed the most visited of the Canary Islands and has lots to offer making it a real crowd pleaser for families.

There’s lots of family-friendly hotels and resorts scattered around the island, it gets all year round sunshine and it’s only a four hour flight from the UK making it an ideal choice for those considering February half term breaks.

Of course, relaxing on the beach or by the pool is incredibly tempting, but venture away from the water and you will find that Tenerife has quite the diverse landscape.

It’s chock-full of untamed wilderness, volcanic scenery, rugged mountains and verdant forests.

Families that love nature will adore Teide National Park which is a serene retreat for hiking as well as the Thai-inspired water wonderland that is Siam Park in Costa Adeje which is both beautiful and fun in equal measure.

With almost guaranteed sunshine, if you are looking for a short haul destination that offers average temperatures in the region of around 22 C, then head on over to the Canaries this February half term.

Sharm el-Sheikh

There’s never been any doubt that Sharm el-Sheikh has always been heralded as a hotspot for half term breaks, it really has everything you need for a fabulous family holiday in the sun.

There’s plenty of things to do in what is Egypt’s most popular beach resort, beyond taking in the Red Sea surroundings.

It’s frankly a family dream escape for half term breaks with an unbeatable landscape which includes a pristine coastline, towering desert sand dunes and rugged mountains.

Sharm is home to some of the finest diving in the world where you can have your very own aquatic adventure and glide past colourful fish past through an aquatic dream of wrecks and coral reefs.

As well as the diving, Sharm El Sheikh is the ideal place for desert safaris, where you can ride camels through the dunes and camp out under the stars.

Talking of deserts, why not take a spin in the Sinai Desert on either a dune buggy or a 4×4 where you can feel the thrill of adrenaline on a dune buggy adventure. Zigzag your way through sand dunes, mountains and more.

Malta

The average high temperature in February is 16ºC, so there will be plenty of opportunities to relax on the beach if you book holidays to Malta.

It might not be bikini weather, but there’s never truly a bad time to visit Malta.

Aside from the intriguing UNESCO-listed heritage sites that showcase the island’s storied history and stunning landscapes.

There’s ancient citadels, spooky catacombs and cathedrals to explore as well as world-class cuisine and award-winning wines.

Little ones will love taking a curious look around the Malta Toy Museum in the UNESCO-stamped capital Valletta which provides the ideal opportunity to show children how much toys have evolved over the decades.

There’s a truly impressive collection of toys from the 1950s onward including model planes, boats, Matchbox cars, farmyard animals, trains and dolls.

Best of all, it only takes around three hours to fly from the UK to the island of Malta making it a shorter journey than sun-soaked destinations like the Canaries and the Greek islands which is always ideal when it comes to half term breaks.

Don’t forget to pay a visit to Malta’s sister island – Gozo which offers a slower pace of life than its neighbour, but there’s still many incredible things to do.
