With a population nearing seven million, Toronto is a diverse, modern city that’s nestled between winding rivers, endless ravines, and viridescent urban forests that sometimes feel like a Lewis Carrol world, when you remember you’re just a few miles from a skyline of skyscrapers.

The capital isn’t just a place where nature intersects with man; it’s one of the cultural hubs of Canada, being home to several important creative spaces across a range of fields, so there’s plenty of entertainment to keep you titillated. Plus, there’s dozens of museums and galleries, as well as some of the best food offerings in the world. And, of course, the city itself is adorned with cloud-tickling buildings, so it’s the perfect place to holiday if you want to see some astounding views.

Weather in Toronto

As you’d imagine for a city that’s quite far north, Toronto has incredibly varied weather. It’s very much a city of seasons: in summer it’s incredibly humid and warm, compounded by the huge buildings and other structures trapping in heat; at other times of the year, the weather is stereotypically seasonal, with winter being particularly snow-filled. The proximity and abundance of water also plays a part in the climate. Even with these distinct seasons, you can sometimes get several types of weather in one day, so make sure to pack your sunscreen and umbrellas, no matter what time of year it is.

Discover the real Toronto

As the heart of the Canadian creative and cultural industries, there’s hundreds of cool little spots that you can visit to get the authentic Toronto experience, from underground comedy clubs to high-end bars overlooking the Lake Ontario. Once you move out into the suburbs, there’s an even wider range of things to do – most of which will be full of locals, for that real Toronto feeling.

If you really want to live like a local, you’ll also want to check out the stunning nature around the city, which many visitors choose not to visit because there is so much to do in the sprawling urban mass. However, we think it’s a must-do, even for the less intrepid – there really is nothing like the Toronto ravine walks.

Like with any major global city, it’s basically impossible to list everything you can see and do in Toronto, but there are certainly some sights that should be top of your list. Even just strolling around and checking out the varied architecture – a mishmash of styles and schools – can be a day to remember, especially when combined with the amazing public parks and gardens that dot the city.

Toronto has every kind of food you could hope for, both in terms of cuisine and price – there’s a reason famous restauranteur Eddie Huang called it ‘the best food city in North America’. You can spend your entire time here in Michelin star restaurants, or scoffing down hotdogs, pizza slices, and boxes of poutine, but either way you’ll come out stuffed and satisfied.

The drinking and bar culture is also just as varied and high quality: you’ll be able to enjoy everything from dive bars to fancy concoctions from world-class mixologists. All you need to do is pick your poison.

The Canadian capital is mostly free of unscrupulous tour vendors and those seeking to swindle visitors, but there are definitely sights and attractions that are not great value for money, whether it’s because they’re overcrowded or simply not as interesting as they first appear. We at Orbzii have stomped the streets of Toronto to make sure everything we recommend will make your Canadian trip one to remember for all the right reasons.
